| Labour Government cancels widening of the A12 between Chelmsford and Colchester |
In a hugely disappointing day for Colchester, the Labour Government confirms it is scrapping funding for the A12 widening scheme between Colchester and Chelmsford.
This comes on top of the decision not to proceed with an upgrade of the A120 between Braintree and Colchester.
This is despite higher, mandatory housing numbers being imposed on Colchester City Council by the Government. A major scaling back on future road infrastructure places more demand on the existing "under pressure" infrastructure. This risks higher traffic congestion and weaker economic growth.
Not a good day for Colchester, but Conservatives will keep fighting for the investment into the A12 and A120!
